Fresh Words and a BABY GAME

August 13th, 2006

I don’t know if you’ve read Pastor John Piper’s most recent fresh words, but it’s really good. It’s entitled “Talking to People Rather Than About Them,” and you can check it out here.

I got to play my trumpet and sing with my husband today in church, and that made me so happy! I was starting to really miss singing alongside Eric in a corporate worship setting because I love it so much. I’m so glad! We had someone play the hammer dulcimer today with us, too, which made it so awesome! I’m so glad God gave us minds to create incredible things like the hammer dulcimer! It’s beautiful. It was a great Lord’s day. We took a nap this afternoon and had a fun night as a family together. We had a dance-off in the living room after dinner, of which I have no pictures, but you can imagine the silliness. Steven is cutting his molars, so anything to distract him is worth it. He’s so tough, though, when it comes to pain. You can tell he really tries to block it out and stay happy. He’s determined (some would say he’s stubborn like his mommy). It’s amazing to see how a person’s temperament comes out even at such an early age!

My mom and sister came to visit for the day yesterday, and my mom helped me make curtains for Lydia’s room. I knew nothing about making curtains, so I was kind of scared to buy fabric and risk ruining it, but they turned out well. My mom has worked so hard lately helping me here and helping my two sisters start their new jobs and get things settled. A mother’s work is never done - Amen?! I hope I’m half as good as a mom by helping my kids with things like this when they are adults!

I am starting to get to the “I’m rrrrready” phase of pregnancy. The baby is getting squished in there, and I am having a very hard time resisting the urge to constantly complain! Eric is so good to me. I am thankful for a patient, joyful husband, and I know that I can fight the temptation to drag others down by a bad attitude as I keep prayerful and watchful of my weaknesses. Thank God for Jesus, who intercedes at his throne for us in our times of need!

Anyone want to guess the arrival statistics of this baby? Maybe I’ll make a poll below, and we can see if anyone gets close!
