Book and Movie

This past weekend and week have been full of church and home projects, activities, and planning. Eric and I had a wonderful time Saturday working on the house and enjoying our first weekend with no kids since Meredith was born. We went out to a nice dinner, and later we watched Blood Diamond (a fantastic film), and I finished the novel Three (Ted Dekker). I wanted to take a break into fiction for a bit, and the book and movie were great candidates. I highly recommend both although there is quite a bit of violence in each of them. Eric and I finished Three in less than four days, so you know it’s gripping.
We are preparing and planning through a lot of decisions and seeking God’s wisdom and heart on various matters. I am trying to stay put at home as much as possible with the kids to give them some structure (and heaven knows any sane person would want that with the price of gas these days), but even with the efforts to try to play in our backyard and keep things simple, it can be tempting to rush around and fill up our calendar with “end of the year” activities. It seems as though May is one of the year’s busiest months, and then all of a sudden Summer is waning, and Fall is right around the corner. I want to keep my New Year’s Resolutions in view and be open to all that God has in store for me as I seek him the remainder of 2007. Right now, though, I think the first item on the agenda is a big nap. (zzzzzzzzzzz)
