Hatemail for Caffeine

Okay. I am presently reminded of every reason I hate caffeine and drink only water.
Jitters.
Shakes.
Terrible headache.
Writing in sentence fragments.
I HAVEN’T GONE TO SLEEP YET, AND IT’S FOUR O’CLOCK IN THE THURSDAY MORNING!
It was innocent enough or, better put, just brainless. I met a mommy friend around 7:30 pm to have a much-needed chat about life, God, children, and homeschooling. I was so glad to talk with her that I guess I just lost all sense. It’s not like I got drunk or anything. It was only a regular-sized iced almond mocha. And it was good. Yum. How could I be so stupid? I have drank water for almost every meal for as long as I can remember, and I should have known. Really, though. It’s not like I have a super-healthy body or something. I eat junk food sometimes. I like a good dose of chocolate every now and then. But caffeine - liquid caffeine - is something I steer clear from. Gives me the heebyjeebies. All that craziness going down into your bloodstream all at once. Plus I’ve seen and felt what wackiness it does to a baby inside me when I’m pregnant. Poor baby!
Well, I’ve done all kinds of stuff on the computer like reading, catching up on emails, redesigning my ‘poco creative’ logo for hopefully the last time (which one do you like? I decided to go with a simple flower and stem instead of all the angelic silhouette stuff), burying myself in the WordPress codex….
and sitting here shivering and wishing I could go to sleep. My bed and my snoring husband are taunting me.
Just a tip for any of you who suffer from insomnia: try cutting out your soft drinks and coffee! I can’t believe how messed up I am.
It’s a good thing that Eric stays home on Thursday mornings. I’m going to need a nap after breakfast!

you know you can get that in decaf….
This is so funny to me, becuase I was “caffeine free” for almost 3 years, and then . . . Madeline was still not sleeping through the night, and I was sleeping through church and attempted quiet times! I did a lot of research before I let myself have a cup of coffee, and even still . . . I felt SOOOO guilty!!!! But, that first Sunday morning I had coffee in my system is a blur to me. I was talking fast, loud, and constantly in Sunday School. One of my friends came up afterward and said, “You had coffee this morning didn’t you?” It is like having a drug in your system, because . . . well it is a drug. Unfortunately I completely fell of the wagon, and I drink coffee almost daily. I would like to wean myself off of it again though.
Okay, it’s 7 pm, and I’m still going! Eric’s gone, and in about 45 minutes I’m going to have 3 little piggies in their bed and be sawing some logs myself!
Hey, I just spent some time catching up on your blog and saw that you all are reading When Sinners Say I Do. Our friend gave that to us for our anniversary, and I look forward to reading it . . . I will also look forward to your thoughts on the book.
Secondly, I like the Poco Design with the orange flower– it pops!
Oops, I meant Poco Creative design.
Thanks, Lori!
I decided to go with the blue one - I think - he he.
pococreative.com
will be finishing the site sometime in the next 2 months!
That’s so funny! I will never forget the time my husband made me some black tea to go. He put in two cups of water and two earl grey tea bags (enough for four cups of tea). I drank it not realizing, and before I even got through half of it I felt really funny.
I haven’t read When Sinners Say I Do yet, but am looking forward to it as well. Our church sells it in their bookstore and it looks really good.
