Quickening: a poem

February 4th, 2008

Afternoon is waning, waning,
Sitting, staring, clock is ticking,
Heart is full of joyful laughter;
I can feel my baby kicking!!!!

    Oh I remember that feeling! Isn’t it wonderful? I’m so happy for you. Have you made the decision whether or not to find out if you’re having a boy or girl? I know it has been a secret with your other children. Congrats and enjoy feeling better!

    Oh, how wonderful! What a sweet little poem- it gave me goosebumps to remember! :)

  • Kristi wrote,

    Elise, Thanks! It’s a “Kristi original,” and I’m happy to say that I wrote it in about 5 minutes while downing some mint-chocolate chip ice cream - haha!

    Leah, no, we will not be finding out, although this is definitely the hardest it’s ever been for me! If someone had it written on a paper somewhere near me, I’d certainly cave! I selfishly want Steven to have a little brother so much; that’s why I want to know although another girl would be just more crazy female fun!! :) If we have a girl, we’re going to have a hard time with the name. We haven’t even thought of names we like yet!

    Cute poem, I remember the feel of a baby’s movement (been awhile for me) but it’s something you never forget.
    PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

    Such a cute poem. I miss those times when you feel you bond so much with that little bundle of joy growing inside you!
    Oh I would go crazy not knowing what I was having, but it is still exciting! I am the total opposite…I can think of girl names, but had a hard time with boy names!
    HA!

    happy birthday sweet friend- feeling the baby move makes all the throw-up worthwhile- at least that’s what i told myself, since i was still getting sick as the babies kicked (thankfully one at a time in the womb)
