Basking in Blessing

March 13th, 2008

Our visit with Matt, Sara, and Bella was a huge blessing to our family. It was great to talk with them, learn from them, worship with them, and just relax at home. Sara has taught me so much in such a short time about health and nutrition, and it was fun to watch her whip up quick meals for her family (notice I wrote “watch her” and not “prepare with her” - haha)! I feel that I am so lacking in the healthy cooking department, but she gave me some great tips and practical tools for stepping it up several notches. If you have some time, check out her Happy Foody site for all kinds of fabulous (or not so fabulous, depending on your food personality! haha) stuff.

Lydia and Bella thoroughly enjoyed playing together and entertaining each other, and Steven and Meredith were right behind them everywhere they went. Meredith screamed “ELLLLLA!” (without the “B”) the entire weekend - no kidding! We had fun going to the beach, going to demos, strolling downtown a little bit and eating one night at a great Thai restaurant. Sara snapped this spontaneous photo of our family right after dinner. She’s great! We had a great time.

There is something we learned shortly after Shepherd’s ultrasound that we ask you to pray for in coming weeks. The scan showed some soft markers that we will be watching closely, which could indicate possible chromosomal abnormalities. In sum we are watching, praying in faith, and pursuing further tests that will help us prepare for his delivery and life. We are basking in the blessing of his beautiful life and know that God has great plans for him and for how he will bless our family, no matter the outcome. It is so easy to let minds wander into worry, but God reminds us of his sure, steady hand when we think of small things that are big, like having the ultrasound “to find out the gender” in the first place. He is reminding me during this that all of my children belong first to Him and then to us. Wow, what a comforting thought. He is good! Please pray with us for God to be glorified in little Shepherd and for us to rejoice in all of God’s ways as well as Philippians 4:6-7, that the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds during this time of waiting on Him.

Will definitely be committed to praying for Shepherd and your family.
“Lord, I ask you know to let your peace, God, which transcends all understanding, guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:7)

Delighted to hear of the fun you had with Sara and her family. Can’t wait to hear about what you learned! What a beautiful picture of you all!

We are praying with you over Shepherd’s sweet life– knowing that God is working all things together for good (for His glory and our eternal good) for those who love him. What a testimony it is to hear you say that the life inside you is a gift and that, in His perfect sovereignty, God is knitting him together according to His plan– regardless of whether it coincides with ours.

Trusting Him and praying with you,
    Lori

Kristi, You are such an inspiration to us all. Your love for Yahweh is incredible and His love for you shines through in your words to others. His plan is perfect. It’s strange, you finding this bit of information out is so similar to my sister-in-laws recent information on their #3 baby. I wonder how much it has to do with the advance in technology (something the mentioned to her.) I hope it is! Hugs to the kids! If you need a doula at your upcoming birth, call me!!! :)
