Is this our real home?
The main reason I’m posting this is because I print my posts, and I want to be able to read it later.Yesterday was the first time Lydia and I had a pretty “substantial” discussion about heaven. I really don’t remember how we got on the subject, but anyway, I was on the floor beside her bed talking to her before her afternoon nap. I think she asked me if she could do something in heaven. I remember saying, “I believe that we will be able to do lots of wonderful things in heaven. We might be able to dance, sing, swim, paint pretty pictures, climb mountains, drink pure water under a big waterfall, take picnics in fields with millions of beautiful flowers that won’t make us sneeze, play games, run and never get tired or hurt, eat lots of really good food, and the best part is doing all of it with Jesus . . . “”Mommy, I want to go to heaven now. Can we go there now?”"No, not unless God invites us to come right now.”"I want to go with you. Are you going to be there?”"Yes, I am.”"Are Nanny and Papa there?”"Yes, right now, they are. But we aren’t. God hasn’t called us there yet.”"Do we take a long trip there? Can Papa and Nanny come get us?”"Well, God’s Word says no one can go from there back to here.”"Oh.”"How can we get there?”"There’s only one way. People sometimes say there are lots of ways, like being really nice, doing good things, being in a special family, or someone telling you that you deserve to go there. But God said that there is only one road. It’s Jesus. He is the road, and we can’t go to heaven unless we go on his road. We have to believe in Jesus as God.”"Oh, okay.” (Singsongy voice) “Can I take my princess crown with me?”"No, we can’t take anything from here to there. God just wants us. He has all new stuff for us that he will share with us when we get there.”She starts wailing.”Lydia! Shhhh! You’re going to wake up Steven.”"But I want to take my crown!”"I promise, Jesus has much better crowns than that in heaven. This isn’t our real home. Heaven is our home.”"Oh? So we’re moving out of this house?”"No, I’ll explain it to you some other time. God has a better house for his children, and if we believe him, we will go there and live there forever.”It was a fabulous conversation, except that ALL DAY LONG today she kept asking me if we were moving and if she could take her toys . . . I love children!

thats so sweet kristi! i can’t wait to be a mother and get to share God’s love with my little ones. it’s truly what life is all about! love you… alesha
Remember your post a month or more ago about the confrontational AVON man/evangilist? You told him that your primary missionfield was the three little people in your mini-van–how beautiful to read an account of a gospel oriented conversation between you and Lydia. May God remind us daily that we are parenting the lost!
that is so precious!
You would think that very sweet moments like this one would be seared into your memory……not so true as you might think. You are wise to write them down for posterity, and to share them with those of us who need a “lift” for the day. If you would like to read about another mother’s conversation about heaven (one whose child is very ill with neuroblastomo, a virulent childhood cancer) read the following blog: http://www.ellieskees.blogspot.com
oh sweet lydia… thanks for sharing that, kristi!
What a beautiful conversation to have with your daughter.
Encouraged by reading your words to Lydia!! Quick ?- so you print our your blogs? just curious how you store them and if the pics show up well?! do you use certain paper. I have been contemplating a way to keep a hard copy of my blog as it has turned into more of a baby book and chronicle of my daily life and was just curious about your methods- Thanks for taking the time to answer this- I know you stay busy- rebecca (friend of natalie p.)
