Help me choose some frames!

I started wearing glasses about nine years ago, and I went through a couple of good pairs. I have never wanted contacts for various reasons, and my vision has gotten much worse in the last three or four years. That’s fine except that my last pair of frames broke about a year and a half ago, and I never replaced them. I never went to the eye doctor either, so I’ve been going around with bad eyes for way too long. No excuses except my own laziness and procrastination I guess!

Today I’m finally going for an eye exam. Yahoo! I’m really excited. I’m going to get my prescription and order from this highly recommended site, 39 Dollar Glasses. These Laura Ashley frames are the ones I used to wear, and I liked them pretty well. I had them in a dark brown color, so they seemed to go well with my face and go with everything I wore. I need your opinions, as I’m terrible at seeing things for myself and like to have someone else’s opinion who is outside of me, my house, whatever. :)

First pair: Milan
Second pair: Morgan

I may order two and have one black and one brown, since these frames are not expensive. The thing I don’t like about plastic ones is they don’t stay on my nose as tightly, but I don’t like any of the metal shapes (except this pair a little bit).

So what do you think? And, by the way, what face shape would you say that I have? I think oval or diamond, but I’m not sure.

    I like the Morgan frames. Probably because they are a lot like mine. I think they will look great on you since you have an oval shaped face, as do I.
    I really like this website, too. I might order my frames from there next time!!!

    I also like the black, but I think they would be a little to harsh. I like the softness of the brown/tortoise shell kind of look.

    oooh i like the milan ones. to me, the morgan ones kind of remind me of a schoolteacher from the 60’s who has way too much hairspray in her hair and is dressed like june cleaver. but i would not trust my opinion too much since i have never worn glasses and am not really up to date on what is “in” these days, especially with glasses…. but there’s my 10 cents for ya! i think your face shape is diamond-y ovalish. how’s that?? :)

    Love the Morgan pair- I think it would suit you, but then again, I’ve never seen anything of *you* but a picture! :)
    But whatever you choose will be classy, I’m sure.

    I think they’re both great! I like both of the plastic frames better than the wire ones. We’ve got very similar face shape and taste in frames. The Morgan ones look just like my previous pair, and the Milan are great, too. If it were me, I’d probably get one in black, one in brown, like you mentioned. :-) For whatever that’s worth…I always like some variety, and you can’t beat those prices!

    To be honest, I like both the Morgan and the Milan. I think they are both simplistic and practical, just like you. However, I’m going with Morgan on this one. I love the tortoise shell. I hope this helps you our a little bit. Great website!

    I just ordered the Milan frames. I think I went against what 99% of you said to do. Maybe I will regret it later! I wish they sold Milan in brown, but oh well. They ended up being $30 more because I added a reflective / glare prevention to the lenses since I work at the computer a good bit. So I only ordered one pair for now and might get a brown pair in a month or two.

    I guess the downside of this site is I can’t try them on my face… but I hate glasses that make me look all boxy and square… so I played it safe. I looked closer at the shape of the Morgan frames, and I liked the way the Milan “hugged” around the nose more with less “squarage.” So that made up my mind (kind of like I made up that word just now). :) The nose of the Milan frames seemed really close to the ones I used to wear.

    I’ll be sure to post a glamour-shot of me with my new eyes as soon as they arrive! Remember those, glamour shots? Who got one? Come on, admit it! Okay I never did, but my sister did - with the boa and all!

    I know how you feel about the nose thing! I wear plastic because I can’t stand the little nose pieces, but the plastic ones don’t stay in place. My sister told me I get my glasses adjusted more than anyone she’s ever met. :) You’ll look pretty in whatever you get.

    wow- neat site- i actually looked for new frames today and found some at SAM’s club-weird place to get glasses, but they have petite frames!! who knew about that? i’m excited since i actually can get “big girl frames” and not have to get kid’s frames - can’t wait to see you in your new glasses!
