First Twirly Skirt
Well, I’ve definitely jumped on the twirly skirt - making bandwagon, and I don’t want to get off! I’ve actually been wanting to make some of these skirts for Lydia and Meredith for a long time, but I’ve just been busy being pregnant and doing other stuff - ha!
I used these instructions, and they were good, but I may try to make a few that are a little different using this popular tutorial.I had low expectations (thinking, “I probably will get frustrated and just need to call it quits when I get tired…”), but Eric encouraged me to finish it and it wasn’t too bad! I learned how to gather and sew in elastic for a waistband - all in one simple project. So that’s pretty good! Lydia wants to learn how to make them, and I told her that she probably could pretty soon. I’m a total beginner to apparel sewing, so if I can do it, I’m sure she can, too! I had a blast and a real sense of creative accomplishment after finishing this one, especially since I did not expect to do anything remotely craft/design - oriented for a few months!
Now if I could finish a few other things that are more important in the next few weeks, I’d love to sit down and make three or four skirts a piece for the girls (and maybe one for me, too); elastic is great for the postpartum mom!
It’s the little things in life…
